Join Us for a 3-Part Safety Series at Golden Horseshoe Equestrian

At Golden Horseshoe Equestrian, we believe safety is one of the most important foundations of good horsemanship. Whether you are hauling to a show, managing horses at home, working around the barn every day, or getting in the saddle, safety is not just about preventing accidents. It is about building better habits, making informed decisions, and protecting both horses and riders.

This summer, the GHE Learning Center is proud to host a 3-part educational Safety Series designed to help riders, horse owners, families, and barn teams feel more prepared, more confident, and more proactive in their daily routines.

All three sessions will take place at Golden Horseshoe Equestrian and are open to our equestrian community.

Part 1: Trailer Safety

Saturday, July 18

Location: Golden Horseshoe Equestrian

Our first session will focus on one of the most important, and often overlooked, areas of horse ownership: trailer safety.

This session will cover the mechanics and maintenance of your trailer, including the key areas every horse owner should inspect before heading down the road. From tires, flooring, lights, brakes, hitch connections, and emergency equipment to ventilation, cameras, fans, and heat precautions, this session is designed to help you think through the full picture of safe hauling.

We will also discuss practical safety tips for loading and unloading, including how to reduce risk for both horse and handler, how to recognize unsafe situations, and why a calm, consistent process matters.

Attendees will receive a trailer safety checklist to use before future trips.

Part 2: Barn Safety

Location: Golden Horseshoe Equestrian

The second session in the series will focus on barn safety.

Barns are busy places filled with horses, people, equipment, feed, tools, water, electrical systems, footing changes, and daily routines. Because so much of barn life feels familiar, it can be easy to overlook hazards that develop slowly over time or become normalized through habit.

This session will help attendees look at the barn environment with a more critical safety mindset. Topics may include safe storage, aisleway awareness, fire prevention, turnout and stall safety, emergency preparedness, equipment organization, horse handling zones, and ways to reduce everyday risks for horses, riders, staff, and visitors.

Whether you keep horses at home, board, lease, volunteer, or manage a barn, this session is intended to help you identify weak points before they become emergencies.

Part 3: Rider Safety + Customer Appreciation Day

Saturday, September 19
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Golden Horseshoe Equestrian

Our final session will be an all-day event focused on rider safety and will be held in combination with our Customer Appreciation Day.

Rider safety is about much more than wearing a helmet, though proper protective equipment is an essential part of the conversation. This session will explore the habits, gear, decision-making, and awareness that help riders stay safer in and out of the saddle.

We will look at practical ways riders can reduce risk, including proper equipment fit, helmet safety, visibility, emergency preparedness, body awareness, riding environment considerations, and the importance of knowing when conditions, equipment, or horse behavior suggest it is time to pause and reassess.

As part of our Customer Appreciation Day, guests can also enjoy special sales, prizes, food, and opportunities to connect with manufacturer representatives who will be on hand to discuss their products, answer questions, and help customers learn more about the equipment they use every day.

We are also excited to welcome a 42-foot trailer full of HR Saddles, giving customers the chance to explore a wide selection of saddles in person and learn more about options that may support comfort, fit, and performance for both horse and rider.

This all-day event gives us the opportunity to celebrate and thank the customers and community members who make Golden Horseshoe Equestrian what it is. Education and community belong together, and we are excited to close the series with a full day dedicated to learning, appreciation, connection, and practical resources for safer riding.

Why This Series Matters

Safety is not a one-time checklist. It is a culture.

It shows up in the way we hitch a trailer, the way we walk through a barn aisle, the way we store equipment, the way we load a horse, the way we choose our riding gear, and the way we respond when something does not feel right.

The goal of this series is not to create fear. The goal is to create awareness, confidence, and better decision-making.

At GHE, we believe that when people learn better, horses live better. This Safety Series is one more way the GHE Learning Center is working to provide practical, accessible education that supports horses, riders, and the broader equestrian community.
