How is it made and why?

• Merino lambs are sheared, and then the wool is needled onto a fabric backing.
• The wool quality, length, and density are more consistent than Merino wool on a natural hide.
• The longevity of Woven Wool is superior to Merino Wool on a hide.
• Sheep are not harmed in the making of this pad.
• With Woven Wool, machine washing is simple.

• Raised wither profile to accommodate more top lines.
• Heavy Duty Cotton base –   cotton with a dense weave and light wool fill.
• Durable Billet Straps
• Pocket under ThinLine for adding saddle fitting shims
• Dense premium Merino wool needled onto a synthetic hide.
• Spine channel.  Our Merino sheepskin is sheared shorter in the center of the pad creating a spine-free center band.

As of April 2025, our Full Sheepskin Pads in Natural Large, have been updated with new billet tabs, a beautiful mesh spine band, and a longer front drop! See photos above. With this update the measurement across the seat for Natural Large Full Sheepskin Pads are 20″. Spine and in-between roll measurements are the same.
